Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA)

LCPL is a world-class supplier of PTA, a base raw material for Pakistan’s textile and PET packaging industries. PTA is utilized as a part of manufacturing polyester staple fiber, polyester filament yarn and PET. Our production plant at Port Qasim, Karachi was built with ICI’s state-of-the-art technology in 1998. Production of PTA to the essential purity at large scale is a complex process and only a few companies in the world have developed successful proprietary technology and skills in this process. ICI plc UK acquired PTA technology in the 1960s. ICI developed this technology and applied it in its owned and licensed plants in UK, Taiwan, Indonesia, India, Pakistan and China. In 1998, ICI plc divested its worldwide polyester business and technology to DuPont. The technology was later sold by DuPont to Invista Performance Technologies (IPT) which is currently the leading global supplier of PTA technology. Our PTA plant continues to operate under a technology license with IPT giving it access to the latest developments in technology research knowledge related to PTA manufacturing.

Product Safety

Our product is safe when used as intended. All raw materials, including the finished PTA product, are subjected to numerous assessments and tests to ensure safety is maintained during production, use and disposal.

Markets Served

Since its inception, the Company has focused on meeting Pakistan’s PTA demand. However, if domestic demand slows down, only then the Company exports to other countries. Our product meets all international standards and is well known to key customers in Asia and Middle East region.
